It is important for children of any age to rest in full-fledged conditions and have a comfortable corner for developmental and educational activities. In small rooms, these tasks are successfully solved by a loft bed with a built-in table top and a wardrobe.

The loft bed is a multifunctional complex in which the sleeping place is arranged upstairs, above the wardrobe and table. This solution allows you to create a number of useful areas in cramped conditions.

Such furniture has certain characteristics.

  • Compactness. One product contains a full-fledged place for sleeping, a corner for classes, placing a PC and office supplies, for storing clothes.

  • Functionality. Many designs allow all zones to be used in parallel, without the need to lay out auxiliary elements separately.

  • Dynamism. In some furniture complexes, it is possible to change the height of the bed, add or remove individual shelves and drawers.

  • Variability. Manufacturers offer various layouts of individual elements of the furniture structure. The design of furniture complexes is also distinguished by a variety.

Among the impressive variety of models, there are two options for placing the bed in relation to the desk and wardrobe.

Parallel

In this design, the bases of the bed and the table underneath are located in one line. The main advantages are that the furniture complex does not hide a lot of space. The structure of compact elements in the room can be positioned in different ways: along the wall in the center of the room, in any convenient corner.

In such models, the entire length of the structure or part of it can be assigned to the written one. Different depths of the table top are possible: by 1⁄2, and sometimes by 2/3 of the length of the sleeping bed. In the first version, the child will have to be placed at a table under the upper floor, therefore, a model with the location of the sleeping frame at a sufficient height is needed. This is necessary so as not to hit your head on the base of the bed and work at the table with comfort.

The staircase can be positioned in different ways:

  • at the end of the bed;

  • within the boundaries of the working area.

If free space permits, a dresser-type staircase is installed from the end of the attic-type complex, where deep drawers are provided in the steps. This system is very convenient for storage as it is very spacious. At the same time, climbing onto the bed turns out to be more reliable and safe. This option is good for children of impressionable parents. But for the working area, less space is allocated here, freeing up space for a wardrobe.

So that the complex does not clutter up the room, no additional elements are made from the side of the free end. The ladder is usually fixed here in the workplace area. The obvious disadvantage of this model option is the limitation of the area that the loft-bed complex occupies.

Perpendicular

This solution involves the location of the bed base and the computer desk at right angles to each other. The main advantages of this design are:

  • aesthetics of appearance;

  • a variety of design options for the workplace and compartments for things;

  • comfortable conditions for study, computer games and other leisure activities.

Taking into account the width of the bed and the parameters of the tabletop, the location of the working compartment can be either under the sleeping base or on the side of it in designs with beds from 90 cm wide. At the same time, the depth of the workplace may also differ. The wardrobe on the ground floor is perpendicular to the bed frame and is often built into the structure.

When installing the storage system on the front side from the outside, you can choose different depths of the compartments. If the loft bed is up to 90 cm wide, and the dimensions of the room allow, it will be rational to install a model with a table from the end of the structure.

The spacious table top allows you to serve as a computer desk and comfortably arrange other office equipment. Even if the storage system is located strictly within the furniture structure, this area will be enough to place clothes and personal belongings.

The presence of a wardrobe for a children's wardrobe is a great advantage of small-sized housing. Furniture designers take into account the needs of consumers, therefore, it is often suggested to choose the filling of the cabinet at your own discretion.

There are several of the most common cabinet types.

Corner

Such a wardrobe is often built into the bottom, under the sleeping bed. The most popular type of wardrobe filling is with clothes rails, open compartments for books and pull-out sections. The main advantage of the design with a corner wardrobe is its spaciousness and saving of free space in the room.

Among the shortcomings, it is worth noting the great depth of the shelves (sometimes it is difficult to get things out) and the insufficient overview of the items stored on them.

Side

Cabinets are located at the end of the structure. If the bed is 90 cm and wider, then the closet can be narrow, and the rest of the space is reserved for open shelves. The advantages of furniture are the convenience of using these shelves. The wardrobe can occupy the entire height of the bed or only part of it. Of the minuses, an indispensable condition can be characterized - the presence of free space for opening the flaps. Therefore, this configuration is not suitable for placement in the corner of a room.

Materials (edit)

High-quality furniture for children is created only from environmentally friendly and safe materials. Basically, loft beds are made of wood and metal.

Wood

A wooden loft bed allows you to create a stylish interior in a children's room. Its cost is quite high, since solid wood is used in the production.

Furniture structures made of MDF are cheaper. At the same time, they are fairly safe options.

Chipboard - chipboard with a laminated surface. The material is not 100% environmentally friendly, but lamination makes its use safe for health. If in doubt about the quality, it is worth demanding the appropriate certificate from the seller. Chipboard has many advantages, therefore, furniture for children's rooms is often made from it.

Metal

Metal structures are considered the most stable, durable and easy to maintain. They are equally suitable for children, adolescents and adults. The only fact "against" can be called the same type of design of a metal loft-type bed.

Dimensions (edit)

A sleeping place raised above the floor is not shown to be used earlier than 3+. Low models have been created for babies that combine a crib and a play area. The base of the upper floor is raised only 0.8-1 m above the floor, which contributes to the comfortable lifting of the child onto the bed.

A child aged 5 years and older can purchase models with a height of 1.3-1.6 meters. In such modifications, there is a place for studying and storing things from the bottom.

In order to increase the working table, you can use the corner table top. A side table can be located on one side of it.

If you want to increase the work space even more, you can extend the tabletop beyond the loft bed. The most spacious modifications are U-shaped.

Design

Designers show maximum creativity in the production of various bed models. Especially when the designs are intended for girls: openwork elements, carved inserts, embossed railings, shelves with curly mirrors.

You can choose a model for a baby princess in the form of a castle or a fabulous gingerbread house. Or stay on a high bed in the style of "Barbie".

Preschool boys will love a treehouse bed or a pirate schooner. And also among boys, models of beds with sides in the form of racing cars are popular.

For older children, style is more important. For example, the option of furniture in a restrained loft style, decorated with graffiti painting, will be successful.

And also the theme of travel is perceived with enthusiasm. Eco-style bed will become a very attractive and modern solution.

In adolescence, tall beds with a small computer desk on the lower tier are more popular. Teenagers love to host friends, so extra seating below will be useful. For example, a compact sofa.

Older students are more impressed by the modern style with its laconic forms and monochromatic design.

The computer is becoming an important subject, so much attention is paid to the comfort of the workplace.

How to choose?

Today, a wide variety of furniture designs for bunk beds are available on sale and on order. When choosing such furniture, it is important to take into account the child's age and sensibly assess his physiological abilities.

  • Up to 7 years old, it is undesirable to install beds at a height of more than 1 m from the floor level.

  • For younger students (from 7 to 11 years old), you can already purchase furniture with a height of 1.5 meters.

  • Teenagers 15+ can easily climb onto a bed about 1.8 m high. Provided that the ceilings in the room allow you to install such a model.

The width of the sleeping bed and the dimensions of the training area are determined individually.

Here's what to look for when choosing a bed that is high up.

  • Bumpers. You need to take care of the safety of the child while sleeping. Preferably a high and sturdy guardrail.

  • Stability of the structure. It is important that the bulky complex does not stagger.

  • Mountings. You need to choose strength and reliability. They should also be easily replaced in the event of a breakdown.

  • Ladder. Absolutely comfortable and durable. It is better to choose metal rungs-steps or solid wooden structures. Convenient roll-out options and drawer ladders for preschoolers and younger age groups.

  • The distance between the bed and the floor. This is a very important parameter that must be calculated so that the child does not bump his head against the upper tier, being below.

  • Material. Wood is considered the ideal option. If you want to save money, you should purchase a structure made of chipboard or MDF.

  • Color spectrum. There are girls-only or boys-only colors, as well as versatile options. In this matter, the wishes of the child should be taken into account.

  • Design. You can choose to your taste from existing models or develop it yourself. Although the variety of design allows you to purchase a ready-made version suitable for a particular interior.

The table can be angular, L-shaped or straight. Here, too, everything is decided by the individual preferences of the buyer.
