The Baroque style is associated with wealth, sophistication and luxury. He came into fashion during the reign of Louis XIV. The style is characterized by excessive pomp in combination with a rich shade range and an abundance of decor. This design requires free space, which is why the creation of such an interior in a bedroom is not available to everyone.

Peculiarities

Translated from Italian "baroque" means "prone to excesses" - this is the best way to characterize the very essence of the style. The history of this trend goes back to the period of the reign of the French king Louis XIV, better known as the "sun king". Soon the style became widespread in all countries of the Old World. In our country, it became widespread during the time of Peter I. The main leitmotif of the Baroque is pretentiousness, a deliberate demonstration of financial solvency and wealth. Baroque was and remains a palace style. Its main task is to highlight the superiority of the upper class. It is no coincidence that Versailles, Schönbrunn and Peterhof are decorated in the Baroque style.

During the late Middle Ages, pomp, splendor, luxury emphasized the expensive decoration of the royal chambers and palaces of noble aristocrats. Baroque is an expensive style, it does not accept small bedrooms. He needs a large area and high ceilings so that the rich decoration, decorated with stucco and gilding, looks harmonious. This decor is most often used when decorating the interiors of mansions and cottages.

In city apartments, especially typical ones, it is inappropriate. However, you can always try to create a neo-baroque atmosphere there - this is a modern version, for which a moderate use of gilding and decor items is typical.

The main features of the Baroque are:

  • spacious rooms, devoid of the feeling of cramped and cluttered;
  • contrasting shading solutions that combine rich and deep halftones;
  • abundance of gilding;
  • the use of natural expensive materials - gypsum stucco molding, frescoes, marble, solid wood;
  • bulky furniture;
  • repetition of decorative ornaments;
  • use of non-trivial design solutions.

Baroque style is inconceivable without columns and statues. This magnificence requires space. Therefore, the baroque is used for rooms with an area of at least 30-40 square meters. Baroque is the opposite of the popular modern art nouveau movement. The main accent in the bedroom is the bed; the whole composition of the interior is built around it. The bed is located in the center of the room, it is distinguished by intricate forging, a high carved headboard and a luxurious canopy.

The decor elements dominate in the room, and each is selected taking into account the general color scheme of the room. Thanks to the thoughtfulness of colors and textures, the design of the bedroom turns out to be harmonious, regardless of the overall heap. Keep in mind that decorating a bedroom in accordance with the Baroque concept requires a very significant financial investment.

No imitations and cheap textures are allowed in such rooms. The luxury of such interiors is emphasized exclusively by natural materials, the purchase of which is not cheap.

Finishing

Sten

In the Baroque style, they try to avoid laconic rectangular lines. When decorating a wall, preference is given to paintings and interior frescoes. Moldings will be a good solution.Most often, a bedroom under the Baroque style is pasted over with wallpaper, giving preference to light colors. The fundamental point is their texture - it must certainly be strong, dense, embossed and impregnated. The most successful option would be silk-screen printing, as well as a glossy finish.

In the bedside area, it is permissible to place accent shading solutions that draw attention to the main piece of interior furnishings. Decorative imitation of plaster is no less popular.

To add luxury to the interior, the cladding is often complemented by lighting from LEDs fixed around the perimeter of the room. This solution visually stretches the space, raises the ceilings and thereby adds volume to the bedroom, making the atmosphere luxurious and refined.

Paul

For decorating the floor surfaces of a Baroque bedroom, marble is ideal. However, parquet, laminate or tiles are suitable - the most important thing is that the material harmoniously fits into the interior and looks expensive. And of course, a palace-style bedroom is unthinkable without a long-pile carpet. It will not only add sophistication to the interior, but also provide additional comfort and heating.

Ceiling

It is allowed to paste over the ceiling with wallpaper in light colors - in this case, the room will look like a single composition. Baroque does not require accents; here they do not use wall-papering or visual highlighting of the ceiling zones. Style requirements are to create the effect of integrity. The bedroom design should be almost toy-like, like a dollhouse.

A good solution would be a multi-level drywall composition. It is decorated with stucco and frescoes - it can be a floral ornament, antique silhouettes, monograms, gilding and heraldic lilies. The use of painted tension structures is allowed.

Selection and placement of furniture

When decorating a room in the Baroque style, special attention is paid to the selection of furniture. The bed occupies a central place here - it should be bulky and spacious, even if a person is resting on it alone. The most harmonious thing in such an interior looks like a sleeping place with a high headboard, decorated with carvings, gilding or a combination of several valuable breeds.

The bed in which the headboard is trimmed with a canopy looks especially impressive. This decor emphasizes the luxury and grandeur of the bedroom and at the same time creates a private atmosphere.

A large number of embroidered pillows becomes an obligatory element of the bed's decoration; they can be made of satin, silk or velvet.

Banquettes with curly legs are placed near the bed. It is advisable to use fabric-covered models. Baroque style requires that all furnishings be exclusive. The ideal solution would be custom-made furniture. In addition to the bed, a dressing table and bedside tables should be present in the baroque bedroom. They will form a single ensemble with the bed as a whole.

Baroque does not accept fragmentation when decorating a bedroom; all elements must be made of the same materials, in identical textures and shades. The storage system is provided by a double-folding wardrobe - it can accommodate a large number of things and at the same time plays the role of a decorative element. A miniature ottoman, as well as armchairs and chairs - they should have monochrome colors and a rounded shape - will bring special charm to the interior of the bedroom. It is advisable to put a small sofa next to the bed - together they will form a single stylistic composition.

Color solutions

The tint palette plays an important role in creating the palace interior of the bedroom. Both light and deep shaded tones are allowed here. An indispensable requirement is the maintenance of a single concept in the overall shade range.The most widespread are red, golden, dark brown, pale blue, pink and beige colors. A winning option when arranging a baroque bedroom is white. It visually expands the space, and in addition, it makes a harmonious union with any shade of furniture and decor. In addition, it looks rich in tandem with gold-plated prints.

The use of floral ornaments and geometric shapes is allowed as patterns. But in dark rooms it is better to refuse them, since they will hide part of the bedroom space. In spacious rooms, a combination of red and brown can be effective, especially if you complement it with snow-white silk and satin bedding.

Nude colors look invariably noble and elegant. They do not overload the eyesight and go well with gilding.

Organization of lighting

Lighting in a baroque bedroom must certainly be multi-stage. The overhead light is provided by a massive pendant chandelier with many bulbs. It should be decorated with forging elements and crystal. Lamps that imitate candles look most organically in such rooms. If desired, they can be replaced with real candles in massive candlesticks, although such decor would be risky from the point of view of fire safety.

At the middle level, lighting is represented by wall sconces and floor lamps. Lamps on bedside tables are used as bottom illumination. Antique lighting fixtures, floor lamps with openwork shades or artificially aged lamps look very impressive in Baroque rooms. The light should be slightly dim - this is the only way to emphasize the non-trivial atmosphere of the room.

Decor elements and textiles

The Baroque style is inconceivable without decorative elements and textiles. Here are used:

  • full length mirrors;
  • bulky watch;
  • massive antique lamps;
  • figurines inlaid with precious metals;
  • lush draperies and fringes;
  • vintage chests;
  • paintings by famous artists.

In general, the decor is selected so that it fully matches the interior design of the room. 1Candlesticks made of bronze and silver will become a 00% hit in the style - in the dark hours they will create a special atmosphere that evokes associations with France of the XIV-XV centuries. Designers recommend using handmade tapestries or reproductions of paintings by famous artists as decor items.

A full-wall mirror in a gilded frame helps to visually increase the size of the bedroom. But the plants in the bedroom are undesirable, the only admission is a small bouquet of freshly cut flowers on the dressing table. The window openings in the Baroque room are decorated with long, heavy curtains that fall from ceiling to floor. Most often, dark shades are used - emerald, burgundy, wine or royal blue.

The curtains are adorned with gold tassels and fluffy lambrequins, decorated with applique and luxurious embroidery.
