Italian bedrooms are some of the most prestigious in manufacturing. Skilled craftsmen in the manufacture of furniture from this warm country have always been appreciated. In this article, we will analyze what advantages and disadvantages bedroom furniture from Italy has, we will consider different options for models in classic and modern styles.

Advantages and disadvantages

Furniture production in Italy is based on its own unique traditions. Today, the process of creating products has changed significantly due to the development of technology, however, due to proper control, products do not lose their beauty. Italians value their culture very much and closely monitor the quality of their products. Therefore, when purchasing bedroom furniture in Italy, you are likely to find one that will make you a beautiful and practical room.

First, let's look at the main advantages and disadvantages of Italian furniture. Let's start with the first one.

  • Quality and reliability... The importance of the aesthetics of such items lies not only in their visual image, proportions and selected color combinations, but also in the materials themselves: such furniture is pleasant to touch, it is comfortable and thought out to the smallest detail. Italian furniture always comes with a guarantee, and distinguished companies have many diplomas and awards.
  • Functionality... Furniture regularly performs its service and will delight you for many years.
  • Style... Designers approach the creation of each line very responsibly, because the first impression is very important.
  • Aesthetics... An important constituent quality of style. The designer Italian bedroom is a pleasure to look at.

The disadvantages include several factors.

  • Price... Not to say that budget options are completely absent - this is not the case. But most of the brands supplied to Russia have a rather high price tag, in fact, which is what shop owners expect, demonstrating the elegance and all the amenities of Italian furniture. Often this even happens for the reason that budget and sensible kits are sold out at home.
  • Equipment... In most cases, you purchase a complete set.

An exception may be if you order on the manufacturer's website, while delivery should be taken into account.

Materials (edit)

Coming to an Italian store or on a visit and noticing solid furniture, be skeptical about the speeches of a satisfied owner about the value of the material from which it is made. To say that Italian furniture is only expensive furniture would be a mistake. There are many firms offering relatively affordable options. Expensive plastic used in decoration and imitating the surface of stone, wood or even bone (melamine) is used by such furniture giants as Francesco Molon, Arredo Classic, TSB, Facondini and others.

The most popular material for making Italian bedrooms is natural wood. The most beloved - oak, walnut and mahogany - have established themselves as the species with the most suitable characteristics. These breeds are classified as elite.

Serious firms use only safe, non-toxic materials as paints and varnishes. The current Italian "wood" is much more seriously processed in terms of protective coatings.

Experiments in changing the structures, properties and compositions of wood have given rise to such versatile materials as chipboard, MDF, fiberboard and others, which are actively used by furniture craftsmen around the world. Elite furniture can consist not only of one type of wood, on the contrary: the wider the range of materials used, the better and more functional it is. Natural solid wood is often used for the base, as well as plywood, chipboard and MDF, which are then covered with wood veneer.

Glued laminated timber from different species - from pine to beech - acts as an array. Budget options are based on MDF or chipboard. The plywood used in Italy is completely different from ours and differs in layering. Sometimes she is an irreplaceable material when creating a particular piece of furniture. As a rule, these are back walls, parts of drawers or panels.

It is rare to meet solid wood furniture in Italy... This is not very convenient for manufacturers, because it is much easier to work on decorating a veneered surface. Italian consumers prefer carvings or paintings. Veneering itself is a finishing process that includes the steps of gluing a thin cut of expensive wood. This layer is called veneer, its thickness usually does not exceed 1 mm. The processed glued veneer is dried and covered with protective varnishes.

As a decor, you can see frames, carved pilasters, semi-columns decorated with acanthus, volutes, garlands of flowers or fruits and other details. One of the distinguishing characteristics of Italian furniture is the use of inlays in the form of small panels. It is created from veneer, more precisely, from its pieces of different colors and sizes. Particularly expensive furniture options can be additionally coated with metals, including gold foil.

Instead of veneering, craftsmen also willingly use laminate. It is made from special paper and thin transparent plastic. The first component is either decorated with a pattern, or decorated with a particular material, creating imitations, up to those that resemble real wood.

Painted wood looks no less solid than natural... In such cases, the established technique "krale", which means "cracked", is quite popular. Manufacturers do not distribute beautiful and original staining techniques, taking care of their techniques. Interesting fact, but glossy furniture in Italy will never be called elite. Therefore, the masters are well monitored so as not to overdo it in painting.

Equipment

Different furniture manufacturers offer complete sets, which include from 3 to 7 items or more. When buying, it is important to consider what exactly you really need and what you can do without. And also rely on real measurements of the furniture itself.

Typically, a standard bedroom set includes a number of items.

  • Bed... As a rule, double, medium height, maybe a little higher than ours.
  • Bedside table... Sometimes even two, often combined with a chest of drawers or dressing table.
  • Dresser... It is performed at an average height, a little wider than we are accustomed to.
  • Dressing table. Usually with one large mirror and a chair.
  • Cupboard... Quite roomy, often combines the function of a mirror.

Sometimes they additionally include a bench, wall cabinets, and a table, shelves and bookcases, chairs on wheels, etc. are placed in the study areas.
