The bedroom is a place of rest, relaxation and relaxation. Therefore, it is very important to create an intimate and cozy atmosphere in it, conducive to relaxation of the soul and body. And today, Roman blinds in the design of bedrooms have become a trend solution.

Features of Roman blinds

Curtains of this kind are vertical even strips of fabric that, when raised, gather in beautiful soft folds.

Roman shades not only save space, but, unlike standard fabric curtains / tulle, are not a “dust collector”. In addition, Roman shades do not need any special care. They have several advantages:

  • protection from the sun and prying eyes;
  • thermal insulation of the room;
  • wide range of colors;
  • visual increase in the bedroom (subject to harmony with the shade of the walls);
  • improved air circulation;
  • ease of installation;
  • creation of absolute darkness during the daytime and ease of regulation of natural light.

Wireframe

This includes 2 types of products:

  • Classic. The most popular option. On a frame made of slats, plates and tubes, an even, smooth cloth of fabric is attached, which, when lifted, evenly folds from the bottom.
  • Cascading. Their peculiarity lies in the formation of folds falling on each other, which are present even in a fully open state. Such models look more interesting and elegant than the previous ones.

Frameless

They are characterized by bezel-less sewing, they are lifted with the help of a cord stretched vertically through the entire fabric. When assembling, they form folds with "ears" on the sides, thereby resembling a lambrequin.

There are several more types of Roman blinds:

  1. Automatic. These curtains can be operated using the remote control.
  2. Photo curtains. Roman blinds of this type can be hung in the bedroom, focusing on the window opening.
  3. Double curtains will look unusual. Consisting of two layers of fabric - dense and airy - such curtains will create a "day-night" effect in the bedroom.

Colors and prints

Designers recommend using neutral colors in the bedroom interior: beige, brown, white, blue or dark gray.

Brown gives the bedroom warmth and coziness, while blue or white adds a sense of lightness and airiness. The beige color is subtle and does not create obvious contrasts, gently diffusing street light.

But the bright blue color accentuates attention, but at the same time creates a pacifying atmosphere in the room.

The fabric for framing the window is chosen according to the style of the interior and the design of the room.

  • Classic. A canvas with stripes / rhombuses and always with braid or fringe will be appropriate here.
  • East style. Expensive fabrics with exquisite hand-made embroidery.
  • Scandinavian style. Here you need the simplest fabric of nude shades, without frills and pretentiousness.
  • High tech. Like scandi, it does not require pretentiousness. Colors in this style can be combined, but no more than two.
  • Exotic. Bright and multi-colored fabrics in rich shades. Natural prints, plant themes will be appropriate.
  • Fusion. The material should have an embossed or smooth texture. The combination of colors should be unusual, and the ornaments should amaze with their geometry and clarity of lines.
  • Ethnic style involves sewing curtains only from natural fabrics: flax, wool, rough canvas, matting, bamboo / wooden base.
  • Country dictates the use of translucent fabrics.

According to the designers, modern Roman curtains can be of absolutely any color. The main thing is that it is combined with the shade of any element of the bedroom itself (bed linen, foot mat, lampshade, etc.).

How to choose?

Most houses are equipped with plastic glazing, so when choosing such curtains, you should consider which side the windows open. This can greatly simplify the installation process.

If there are several windows in the bedroom or they are doubled, then it will be advisable to purchase not the same type, but different curtains, but of the same texture.

When choosing a material for a Roman curtain, you need to take into account the desired illumination of the bedroom.

Roman curtains for custom windows

The practice of custom-type windows is most often found in private homes. In these cases, Roman curtains will only emphasize the unusual design. Here are some examples of decorating custom windows with such curtains.

  • Curtains on triangular windows will accentuate their geometry and create a clear outline.
  • The tilted window will need curtains on special side rails for a snug fit.
  • A window opening, consisting of three windows, can be framed with such different types of curtains. You just need to make sure that the curtains are in harmony with the overall interior of the bedroom and not "knocked out" of style.
  • Decorating an arched window with roman blinds will give the bedroom a complete and romantic look, create a sense of aristocracy.
  • Roman blinds installed on sloped windows accentuate them and emphasize their unusual shape.
  • For bay windows, plain roman blinds are ideal. The same applies to the windows in the attic.
  • For panoramic windows, Roman blinds in any style are suitable. An interesting point: when unfolded, the curtains create the feeling of a closed space, masking the glazing. In the assembled state, Roman blinds only visually increase the size of the window.
  • Curtains made of thick fabric, installed on corner windows, are able to protect from bright sunlight. In addition, it will allow you to adjust the lighting in the bedroom.

How to combine with tulle?

Roman shades go well with a weightless solid tulle. Tulle creates a certain balance and gives the room an airiness.

There are 3 ways to combine.

  • Tulle frames the roller blind on both sides.
  • Three tulle fabrics are used, one of which is hung in the center.
  • Tulle fills the window opening completely. In this case, the composition can be supplemented with a lambrequin.

The use of Roman blinds in the interior of the bedroom

There are bedrooms where the windows are located so that heavy long curtains or even light tulle are simply inappropriate. And here Roman blinds come to the rescue. They fit perfectly into any interior style and save space without overloading the room.

  • Roman curtains save when the bedroom windows face the sunny side, and frequent darkening of the room is necessary.
  • If there are several windows in the bedroom, then you can experiment by combining Roman curtains with curtains or tulle. Or hang Roman curtains on all windows, but of different types and in different colors.
  • In a bedroom with fully or partially glazed doors, you can make an interesting design move: curtain the glass part of the door with roman blinds, thereby completely isolating the room.
  • It happens that there is a table next to the window. Then the roman blinds will come in very handy. Unlike conventional curtains / tulle, they do not restrict movement and will not interfere with the workflow. This option is also appropriate if the bedroom has large windows.
  • It happens that the vertical curtains on the balcony flutter when ventilated, which is a little annoying. Roman blinds manufacturers offer floor-length models. Such curtains will stand out on the wall, focusing attention on themselves, and will not sway from the breeze.
  • Sometimes the bedroom window is right at the head of the bed. Then Roman blinds are what you need. They divert air currents to the floor, and also create the effect of the absence of a window in the room. In addition, this solution enhances the “third color effect”.
  • If there is a balcony in the bedroom, people decorate not only the window, but also the balcony door with Roman curtains. In this case, it is better to choose floor-length Roman curtains. And it doesn't matter if the balcony door is fully or partially glazed.

Roman shades care: recommendations

As with any standard curtains / curtains, Roman curtains require regular maintenance. The care is simple, but there are some recommendations, following which you can keep the presentable appearance of the product for a long time:

  2. removal of dirt is done with a damp sponge (or a piece of cloth) dipped in soapy water;

  4. drying is carried out in a carefully straightened form.
