The realities are such that many have to master the art of hairdressing. Families buy cars, and relatives start to cut each other's hair. But if the clipping device is broken, do not rush to give it to the workshop as soon as possible.

By their design, simple hair clippers are similar to the usual Soviet razors. Simple repairs are within the power of any man.

Possible malfunctions

First, inspect the device, try to determine the malfunction. The inspection is carried out in a specific order.

First of all, check the wiring for damage, breaks. They can arise for various reasons:

  • regular disconnection from the network by pulling the wire, and not by the plug;
  • loose mountings of the socket and sleeve;
  • short circuits of electricity;
  • falling of the device from a great height.

Next, find out if the power supply is working, if the charge has run out, and if the battery is out of order.

Then inspect the body of the equipment for cracks, breakages of its parts.

Check the toggle button (it should be free to switch to on / off mode).

Pay attention to the eccentric: when the machine turns on and works, but does not cut, it means that the eccentric is out of order.

Examine the coil winding. Perhaps the overheating of the cutting equipment at the very beginning of work is just due to a violation in this part, or it just needs to be lubricated.

If the device does not turn on or vibrates strongly, then look for a problem in the battery or micromotor.

Breakdowns vary depending on the device design. Consider the problems that may arise in rotary models:

  • shortcomings in the operation of the electric motor;
  • breakdowns in the nozzle system;
  • inoperative state of the control system;
  • wiring problems;
  • failure of the eccentric.

Malfunctions that occur in battery devices:

  • damage to the battery, as well as its expired service life;
  • non-working power supply system;
  • problems in the place where the power supply is connected to the device;
  • burnt out control board;
  • mechanical defects in the block of sharp elements.

Breakdowns in vibration devices:

  • problems with coil winding;
  • excessive hum and noise;
  • malfunction of the network cable;
  • inoperative state of the on / off button.

All types of machines have the same breakdowns: they cut badly or do not remove hair, in general, cut in pieces, leaving tufts of strands, pull or chew curls.

Machine repair manual

Analyze the inspection data. If the electrical wire is damaged, or there are problems with the plug, it is better to replace the cord completely - it will be safer. Switches and switches are easily replaceable.

Battery powered devices often need to check the charger or the battery itself. - it is possible that due to malfunctions in this system, the machine will simply not turn on. Let's consider separately do-it-yourself repair of rotary and vibration machines. This division is caused by the different way the knives are driven.

Rotary

Such devices have a motor powered by electricity or a battery. The hair clipper is driven by a motor through an eccentric mounted on the motor shaft. In normal operation, the hair is cut evenly, without constriction.

If the tool turns on, heats up quickly, hums and does not cut or pulls hair, there may be a problem with the eccentric, or the motor shaft is clogged. To eliminate these problems, you need to act carefully: unscrew the cover of the device, then clean the shaft and eccentric.

These mechanisms are fragile, so you need to act with the utmost care. If you notice that the eccentric is worn out (for this reason, the knife in the head cannot make the necessary movements), the part should be replaced.

If there has been a fall, there could be a break in the wiring between the cord-to-motor connection. In this case, the cover of the device is opened and the connection is checked. The damaged soldering is restored to start the machine.

But if, after such a check, the above problems are not found, then we can talk about the coil: either it has failed, or it causes a short circuit. In this case, it is better to use the services of professional craftsmen, but you can still try to "bring it to life" yourself.

Vibrating

The cutting part is driven by vibration of the head, to which a current is applied through the coil with the winding. So the knife begins its movements, cutting off the curls. In other words, vibrating machines operate the springs located near the pendulum.

If at least one of them breaks down, the equipment will stop and will not cut. To make repairs on your own in this case, you need to open the case, identify which one is out of order, and replace the desired spring. In specialized retail outlets, you can buy spare parts for such devices.

But the mechanisms do not always require replacement - sometimes it is enough just to tighten something, for example, the coil fasteners. When they get weak, the machine makes a hum. In this case, remove the housing cover and disassemble with fasteners.

Carrying out such manipulations, you should measure your strength - here it is important not to twist the bolts. You need to act without undue effort so as not to break the thread, otherwise the bolts will not be able to hold the elements of the device.

However, other damage during the repair or lubrication of mechanisms can adversely affect the operation of equipment. Everything is done with extreme care so as not to scratch or damage the "insides" of the clipping device.

The vibration machine can also buzz strongly due to voltage drops in the power network. If the device has a special regulator, you should definitely use it - set the best option for work in order to avoid “burning” the device.

Some of the more complex repair steps can also be done at home by following certain guidelines and having everything you need. For example, to sharpen knives, you need to get a special circle with an aluminum disc. Consider how to do this at home.

  1. Carefully remove the knives by loosening the fasteners and leaving the threads on the bolts holding the mechanism.
  2. The surface of the blades is cleaned of dirt. It is more convenient to do this with a toothbrush and soapy water or detergent for kitchen utensils.
  3. Dry the knives well before sharpening.
  4. Pour abrasive onto a clean, dry surface, evenly distributing it over the entire area.
  5. Install the knife along the radius of the disk, clamp it in a clamp, start the circle.
  6. After sharpening, pointed mechanisms are treated with a special compound and lubricated.

To properly assemble the unit, you need to remember the sequence of actions when disassembling it and removing the knives. It is better to record all these actions on a telephone camera.

How do you know when it's time to sharpen your knives? This will be noticeable in the quality of the haircut: the machine will function, but not cut the hair, but tear it.

You can also sharpen an element with a grindstone - blunt planes are processed with it to the desired state. But some knives cannot be sharpened without special equipment. More advanced models already have automatic sharpening.

It happens that the technique does not work correctly due to incorrect head settings. In this case, you should pay attention to the amplitude of movement of the cutting element, check how the knives are located in relation to each other. If you need to adjust the mechanisms, this can be done with a regular screwdriver.It is necessary to inspect the centering of the knife block casing, to eliminate the existing backlashes.

Engine breakdown will require more attention. Usually, in this case, the coils become unusable. They can either be rewound or replaced. The easiest option is to replace. But you will need a mechanism identical to the original with the same number of turns, which may not be on sale. Then it remains to rewind the coil - this is done both manually and mechanically (using a drill). When rewinding, you need to count the number of turns, it should be the same - the changed number will lead to malfunctions in the device, in particular, this will affect the power.

If the battery machine does not start, then you should check the power supply, and then you need to check the battery. A non-working battery is not repaired - it only has to be replaced with a similar battery. But if the battery and the power system are normal, they ring the control board (in the event that there is one).

Most rechargeable portable devices are designed for gentle operation. You need to know that this technique is designed for an average of 15 haircuts per day. Most often it is used as an auxiliary equipment - for edging, trimming, highlighting the temples, trimming curls in difficult areas, and so on.

Everyone knows that disease is easier to prevent than to cure. Therefore, breakdown is easier to prevent than to repair. Therefore, we will consider a few preventive points.

Vibration equipment, due to its design features, quickly overheats. With continuous intense load, it is better to take a break every 15-20 minutes at the same interval as the duration of the work process.

At the end of the work, the tool must be lubricated if required by the care instructions, and must be cleaned.

Rotary machines are used for heavy loads. Many models in this series are equipped with a cooling system, which gives them the "strength" to withstand increased operating conditions.

During the day, they also need to be given the opportunity to "rest", but this time will not be as long as with vibration devices.

A general and obligatory rule for all clippers is regular cleaning and lubrication of all mechanisms. If this is work in the salon, then this service is carried out several times a day. If the tool is used at home, then this is done after each use.

Compliance with the rules for the care of equipment will help to avoid most serious problems: overheating, vibration, hum or excessive noise.

It is better to deal with minor breakdowns at home - this will lead to savings in both time and finances. A man can easily replace the wire, plug himself, tighten the fasteners, lubricate the rubbing mechanisms. And sharpening knives and winding coils are also quite feasible at home.

With more complex breakdowns, it is better to contact specialized repair shops so as not to aggravate the situation. But it is best to take care of the equipment: clean, lubricate, and prevent falls and other damage in a timely manner.
