The most popular and widespread shaving tool among the stronger sex has been and remains foam. But there are situations when it ends unexpectedly - in this case, information about what you can use for shaving instead of the foam that has become so familiar.

Alternatives to foam

Soap

To answer the question of what can replace shaving foam, it makes sense to remember what our dads and grandfathers used. Until a few decades ago, older men used the most regular toilet soap, and even today, some older people use this very simple tool.

Important: if you shave using soap, it can dry out the skin that is already injured by shaving. Therefore, after the procedure, it will be useful to soften the skin with any care cream.

Of course, absolutely any toilet soap will do for shaving. However, it is advisable to use specialized cosmetics designed specifically for depilation. Today, the cosmetics industry offers the widest range of soaps with anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and moisturizing ingredients. The undoubted advantage of these shaving products is considered to be protection against pathogenic microflora, as well as long consumption. The downside is the high cost. According to user ratings, the best shaving soap option is a Proraso product.

In order to shave with soap, you will need a special shaving brush... It is a brush with a large number of coarse fibers. The soap is placed in a small container and the shaving brush is moistened. Then, with a brush, thoroughly foam the soap until foam is formed. The mass is applied to the face and a standard razor shaving procedure is performed.

Using the most toilet soap, you do not need to expect that you will be able to get abundant lather, but in the absence of other emergency remedies, this method will work.

Cream

A good option for shaving irritated and dry skin is cream with a light moisturizing texture. This cream includes semi-synthetic fats, soap, glycerin and alcohol, as well as herbal supplements. From the advantages of the products on sale, one can single out a democratic cost, and from the disadvantages - a very quick consumption of funds. If you whip such a cream into a foam, then an airy and delicate consistency is formed, which lays well on the skin and effectively softens it.

The absolute leader among all shaving creams with a machine today is the product of the Nivea company.

Gel

Gels differ from all other shaving products in their high price. Nevertheless, the consumption of the product is much less than that of soap and foam. The gel has a dense structure and therefore needs to be pre-hammered into the dishes. Even a small amount of gel quickly spreads over the entire treated surface and softens the hairs. The advantages also include the naturalness of the composition and the absence of alcohols in it.

Today, the leader among the manufacturers of gels is the Gillette company.

And if your usual shaving foam suddenly runs out, and you don't have a special shaving gel, you can try replace it with regular shower gel. Of course, you shouldn't use it regularly, but for one-time cases its use is quite justified. This gel gives an airy foam, thanks to which the shaving razor moves gently and smoothly over the surface of the skin, quickly cuts off the bristles and does not damage the epidermis.

It is best to use plant-based products or products that do not contain menthol components. Using such a tool is very simple. To do this, you just need to wet your hands and squeeze out a little gel, and then lather well. The foam is then applied to the area you intend to shave. After the end of the manipulations, the skin is washed with warm running water.

Shampoo

Foam, gel, and other shaving products can be replaced with shampoo or even hair conditioner. Both the one and the other means foam well, while they lie down evenly and are redistributed over the skin. If you have a choice between a simple shampoo and a balm shampoo, the latter is the best option. You don't need to foam up the conditioners too much - you just need to apply them to the skin like a gel and start shaving.

These products moisturize the skin well before removing the bristles, in addition, saturate the treated area with their vitamin components.

Butter

For owners of skin that are too sensitive and prone to inflammation, it is best to perform depilatory procedures using special protective moisturizers - oils. They provide effective treatment and softening of the skin, form a protective film on the face, soften the bristles and thus make the shaving process as easy as possible. The product contains esters and oils of vegetable origin.

The most demanded oils are from The Art of Shaving and The Body Shop. However, they have a rather high cost, so not every representative of the stronger sex can afford them.

A good alternative might be olive oil. This tool has long been used to remove stiff bristles. Olive oil moisturizes the skin well, and also creates additional protection against flaking, redness and irritation. Olive oil maintains an optimal level of moisture in the epidermis, softens the bristles and greatly facilitates the process of removing coarse hair with a razor.

Using oil is not difficult at all. To do this, you must first cleanse the skin, drip a little olive oil on your hands, rub it thoroughly in your palms and apply on cleansed face skin. The process of direct cutting of the bristles is carried out as usual. So that the skin does not dry out during shaving, it is necessary to maintain its moisture with a damp cloth. After shaving, simply pat your face dry with a clean, dry towel.

Surely you will notice that the skin after such manipulations will not only be clean-shaven, but also hydrated and well-nourished.

Shave without using products

Some men ask the question whether it is possible to use a razor without any special tools. The answer to it will be negative. The fact is that Before removing hairs with a razor, the skin needs at least a minimum of moisture. Otherwise, the blade will not be able to slide smoothly, and this will inevitably lead to injury to the skin, the appearance of cuts, redness or peeling.

Second point - shaving without the use of special tools is unlikely to be effective, because the bristles will remain unlocked before shaving.

Shaving without the use of foam, cream soap and other means is possible only with a trimmer or an electric razor - their design provides for special nets that lay the hairs in the required direction.

What to choose for yourself?

There is no unequivocal answer to the question of which is better - foam, soap or some other means. Here you need to proceed from your own preferences and skin characteristics. It is important to take into account several factors.

  • Skin type... Most of the creams, oils, foams and special gels presented in this segment are intended for use by men with a certain skin type.So, you can find products for oily, normal, as well as dry and prone to irritation of the skin. Also on sale there are universal formulations - they are suitable for all types of leather, without exception.
  • Body area. When buying a product, you need to take into account the fact which part of the body you intend to shave. The face is considered the most delicate area, so there is no need to take gels and foams for depilation of any other places.
  • Composition... If the skin is sensitive and requires extremely delicate care, then preference should be given to formulations on a natural basis. For dry skin, it is advisable to choose cosmetics with emollient and intensely moisturizing ingredients, and for owners of oily skin, products with alcohol, astringent and drying ingredients are suitable.

If none of the shaving products on offer work for you, you can make your own emollient and lather without synthetic additives.

    This will require:

    • ordinary soap or soap base — 170-200 g;
    • oil extract of chamomile or calendula - 1 tbsp. l;
    • any essential oil (it is best to take tea tree) - 30 drops;
    • oil vitamin E - 3-5 drops.

    You will also need a mixer, bowl, and saucepan. First you need to grate the soap, then melt it in a water bath to a liquid state and carefully pour into any container. To the resulting base, add a plant extract, as well as vitamin E and essential oils, mix thoroughly first by hand, and then with a mixer - the natural foam is ready!
