The watch has a long history. And during all this time, a huge number of devices and methods have been invented for determining the time: from the position of the Sun to completely new electronic devices. In the XXI century, a new trend is becoming a binary watch, which is the so-called opposition to the classics.

History of appearance

The emergence of such clocks is associated with the idea of introducing machines for computing on electronic tubes. The first sample was developed by Anelace in 2008 and presented worldwide.

The technological development of the binary model was preceded by the production of watches with LED screen, however, these prototypes were large and with electronic LEDs. The latter later replaced vacuum tubes in the mechanism the hours in question.

Principle of operation

A binary watch has the same appearance as a regular watch dial. But there is one important detail - time is displayed on it using the binary encoding. The numbers here are encrypted under zero and one. A similar technique is used by programmers to generate code in computer languages. As noted above, the dial design consists of flickering and dying lamps.

The main feature of the watch is that the principle of their operation is unique and unlike the functioning of ordinary watches. There are no arrows or numbers on them.

The innovation of the method used is that on the dial, the number is depicted as a sum, which is calculated from several digits. The approved number of LEDs corresponds to minutes and hours. It is rather difficult to quickly set the time on such a watch, since just a glance will not be enough. It is necessary to make calculations, which is why this device is called "smart".

Advantages and disadvantages

The most important thing is that this mechanism includes several useful and necessary functions inherent in certain gadgets at once (these are the positive aspects of the device in question).

  1. Watch. Of course, their main function is to determine the time.
  2. Intelligent warm-up. The binary clock helps to develop and train math skills. They also help improve memory and focus.
  3. Syncretic design. A fashionable and modern accessory that represents the so-called "future" design. And besides, this model glows in the dark.

It's hard to name disadvantages of binary clocks, however, for those who are looking for easy ways, they definitely will not work, because in order to find out the time, you need to understand binary coding, that is, you will have to "turn on" your arithmetic abilities.

Varieties

Men's binary watches are presented in stores in a wide variety, from each other they can differ in quality, design and much more. But the main criterion for their classification is type of displayed data.

  • Dial with a pair of rows of LED indicators. One of them shows minutes and the other shows hours. There are also indicators of the time of day on the screen.
  • Chronometer with bulbs distributed in 6 rows (by a pair of pointers for hours, minutes and seconds). Displayed like this - hours: minutes: seconds. To determine, you will need to calculate the value of each column according to the algorithm.
  • Watch display in the form of a pressure gauge with a pair of circlesshowing the time from the outside and the minutes from the inside.
  • Some models have 2 stripswhere the right side is hours and the left side is minutes.

Manufacturers

Many leading companies in the world are now engaged in the development of binary clocks.

Undoubtedly the leader in the production of such mechanisms is Japan, namely the Tokyo Flash company... Devices Shinshoku metal, covered with holes along the entire surface. To determine the time, you need to count the holes of different colors. Each model released is exclusive, so those samples that have not been sold are transferred to the museum for storage.

Binary watch company The one demonstrates innovative German quality. The company offers pieces of a refined and elegant look. The Art Edition collection was developed by leading European designers in the pop art style - displaying an unusual combination of colors and geometric shapes.

Lovers of the classics were not deprived of attention, it is for them that collectible Kerala Trance and Lightmare lines. Crystals are used to create women's models, for example, they are adorned with samples from the collection Odins Rage. A SLIM SQUARE implies the design of a watch made in neon colors and decorated with air butterflies.

And, finally, a well-known manufacturer is engaged in the release of binary watches - a German company Led Watch.

A distinctive feature of these models is the high quality of steel dials, unusual design and a unique method of time counting.

How to setup?

Devices with a binary time counting system are completely different from ordinary clocks, since in their the mechanism does not have the usual time indicators. And all information is displayed on LED flickering screen.

Definitely, the coding system differs from company to company, but there are basic points that must be taken into account in order to set up such a mechanism. There are two mechanisms in such chronometers: time, date. To set the desired mode, press the Set button. Flashing LEDs will confirm your action. Next, you need to select Select and adjust the appropriate value.

It is necessary to master the principle of the binary number system in order to place the correct values on the clock. To determine the value of each digit, you need to multiply the previous element by two. As a result, we get such a row from one, which doubles. Let's give an example: we bring the number 010111 into its usual form, summing up the "weight" of each digit. And we get 0 + 16 + 0 + 4 + 2 + 1 = 23.

However, products from different manufacturers may differ, so to set up a binary clock, you need to read the instructions.

How to use?

Binary devices are divided according to the method of interpreting time into several groups.

  • Circular arrangement of diode indicators... The appearance of a circular clock is more in line with the watches we are used to. The dial includes several circles of small bulbs. Each subsequent circle is slightly smaller than the other. Large circles are arranged according to the clock pattern, made in the "classic" style. In the central part of the dial there are 4 LEDs that display minutes from 1 to 4. As a result, the value of the diode is added to the gap, which flickers in a row.
  • Wristwatches with three vertical stripesconsisting of 12, 5 and 9 bulbs. Each line corresponds to hours, minutes and seconds, respectively. Above the bulbs is a row of numbers from 1 to 12. By comparing the values of 3 lines, you can understand the time. Such samples are distinguished by their sophisticated appearance, they are much easier to "read".
  • Binary devices with two stripes. This method is the most difficult. Each row consists of several bulbs (from 2 to 4), where the two has a certain degree. In the first row, the LED recognizes the unit as 20, in the second 2 - 21, in the third 4 - 22, in the fourth 8 - 23. In the second line, the numbers are "read" according to the same algorithm (from one, doubled). In order to determine the time by such a binary clock without error, it will be necessary to add the numbers that are highlighted by diodes.
