The use of wood in interior decoration has been a classic solution for a long time. This material is suitable for almost any style and gives the room coziness, warmth and comfort. Wooden decor elements can complement the overall picture, as well as serve as the main decoration in the room.
Peculiarities
Wooden slats, or buffels, can serve different functions in the interior, for example, decorating walls, ceilings or furniture, zoning a room, a bright accent or stylized stair railings. Wooden slats in the hallway can perform not only the function of decoration, but also have a functional purpose. Hooks for outerwear or bags can be attached to them. Thus this area will be visually highlighted.
Using the zoning method using buffels, you can adjust the space and achieve an original effect.

Wooden beams can be made from various materials:
- panel based MDF, decorated with veneer;
- based Chipboard, laminated for wood;
- from natural wood species, covered with enamel, impregnation or varnish;
- from metal with decorative coating in different shades.
If you choose natural buffels, keep in mind that they are inexpensive. However, they must be thoroughly dried, and with additional coating, the slats can deform. Chipboard beams look like natural wood, and they will not change their shape under the influence of external factors.
Metal slats are most often made of aluminum. This material is practical and durable. If necessary, it can be painted under a tree or in any other color that suits your interior.
The choice of material for the battens depends on your interior style. Metal slats are more suitable for minimalism or high-tech styles. For classic design directions, it is better to choose buffels made of wood or made of wood.
Design
Color combinations when using slats in the hallway are often standard. The natural wood color looks great with many color combinations, light and dark shades. The wall that will be the backdrop for the slats must contrast with the color of the slats themselves so that they do not merge into one whole.
The classic solution is considered to be a dark shade of the wall (black, gray, brown) and varnished wooden slats. And also the background for the design of the beams can be a wall of white or other light shades. The vertical slatted arrangement visually makes the room look taller. Horizontal - will add originality. The addition of backlit slats looks unusual.
How and where to arrange?
It is better to place the slats in the corridor on one of the walls or even on a separate fragment of the wall, thus emphasizing this area. The bars are placed vertically, but you can also place them horizontally. Alternatively, you can continue to trim the ceiling with beams and create a corner. In this way, the functional area in the hallway will be visually highlighted.
You can attach the buffels to liquid nails or parquet glue. Sometimes self-tapping screws are used for strength. The width between the slats is usually the width of the bar itself, but you can also reduce this distance. It is possible to arrange the slats close to each other, creating a continuous surface.
The distance above and below must also be taken into account, as the tree can expand. The more spacious the room, the wider you need to choose the slats.
