The first place in the apartment, where the owners and guests get, is the entrance hall and the corridor. Most visitors never enter the room, stopping at the doorstep. Therefore, the decoration and design of the corridor is of paramount importance during the renovation. Usually in the hallway there is not too much space and little furniture, so open sections of the walls immediately catch your eye. A good solution is pasting them with wallpaper with a volumetric pattern.

Advantages and disadvantages

The peculiarity of wallpaper with a three-dimensional photographic picture lies in the exclusivity of its perception. A realistic image seems to invade reality, drawing you into your graphic world. Before finally deciding on the choice of 3D wallpaper in the corridor, you should consider their advantages and disadvantages.

Better to start with the cons.

  • 3D canvases are more expensive than regular wallpapers.

  • They are more difficult to assemble. To get an even picture, it is necessary to do the alignment very accurately.

  • An insufficiently flat surface must be leveled beforehand. If the walls are not too prepared for pasting, you will have to spend extra money on putty or drywall.

  • Wall murals with a volume effect can quickly get bored. If you do not plan to frequently change the wallpaper, you need to approach the choice of a pattern very carefully.

The advantages of this type of finish include several factors:

  • the ability to create an original design;

  • a good drawing can visually expand the space, correct the geometry of the corridor, "raise" the ceiling;

  • 3D wallpaper in the corridor can be printed to specific sizes;

  • you can order a print of the canvas from a personal photo.

An impressive assortment of photo wallpapers can be roughly divided by the type of canvas base and image quality.

By type of base

  • Photo wallpaper. The plot on such canvases is so realistic that it looks very impressive. The plots are diverse. The most popular are volumetric geometric shapes and flowers, large drops and all kinds of abstraction.

  • LED wallpaper. The most difficult and most expensive canvases to glue. This is a whole system that includes many LEDs, a power supply with a remote control, and more. Optionally, you can adjust the intensity of the glow, change the shade of the backlight and turn it off completely. Successful in a dark hallway as an additional source of lighting.

  • Paper. The most budgetary and environmentally friendly, but very difficult to glue. The picture quality is not the best. The fine structure requires prompt action when gluing. Delay threatens to get the canvas wet from the glue. These wallpapers are not intended for wet cleaning.

  • Textile. A very dense base with crisp detail and deep colors. In this case, the fabric is prone to dust and is destroyed by mechanical cleaning.

  • Vinyl. It is durable, washable wallpaper on the wall, light-resistant canvases and easy to install. 3D-drawing on vinyl wallpaper looks clear and realistic. This explains the high cost of this type of finishing materials. The downside of vinyl is its airtightness.

  • Non-woven. Environmentally friendly coating that allows air to pass through, eliminating mold under the canvases. The durable base can be cleaned with a damp cloth without damaging the material. Flizelin does not fade and remains stable in size during the gluing process.

By image quality

  • Standard. Assumes a three-dimensional image, geometric pattern, abstraction.

  • Solitary. This is a drawn graphic fragment or photo of the entire wall or on a separate section of it.

  • Panoramic. The canvas occupies the entire wall of the room, and in spacious conditions even two. Perimeter placement is popular.

  • Fluorescent. 3D wallpaper that gives your picture a magical glow when darkness falls.

And also a special granulate is used to create a three-dimensional image. The water-based paint applied to it seems to "revive" the picture, hiding all the imperfections of the walls.

Design options

In a modern interior, a combination of materials that differ in type and texture is popular. Photowall-paper successfully harmonizes with decorative brickwork, natural stone, wallpaper on any basis, with plaster, natural wood and its imitation, bamboo and cork coverings. The choice of pattern should be consistent with the decor and general style in the hallway. And, of course, to carry the main function - to emphasize the style and comfort of the house.

Wallpaper with photo printing can decorate all the walls in the hall or take up some part of it. With a minimum of free areas on the walls, you should not refuse to glue photowall-paper if you really want to. It is possible to apply alternative decor options:

  • create a modular picture;

  • arrange voluminous wallpaper in the form of imitation of a false window;

  • to paste over the interior, entrance door, cabinet facades;

  • place the 3D image on the ceiling.

For a compact hallway, you can choose a pattern in one of the design directions.

  • Ecostyle. Natural locations, images of representatives of the animal world, birds, butterflies, "Aquarium" theme.

  • Modern. 3D abstractions from different eras.

  • Retro. Photos of actors and musicians of past years, illustrations of old cars, interiors and streets.

  • Exotic. Different countries, fragments of tropical nature, amazing flora and fauna of distant islands.

In the hallway, there is no need to create overly luxurious finishes with perfect precision detailing.

Such wallpapers are much more expensive, moreover, being in the entrance area takes very little time. The simplest and most understandable drawings look good there.

Narrow wallpaper is a functional and useful type of 3D wallpaper that allows you to:

  • bring a visual accent to the space;

  • expand the boundaries of the room at the level of perception;

  • mask small irregularities and other defects in the walls.

Narrow vertical volumetric wallpaper creates the illusion of several dimensions. Fragments of photowall-paper in the hallway will demonstrate to each guest the extraordinary taste of the home owners. Therefore, in parallel with decorating the hall, there is an opportunity for self-expression.

The ceilings in the hallway will seem higher if you paste over the walls with wallpaper with a vertical arrangement of the picture. Trees, skyscrapers, towers, and so on are good options. Wallpaper with a horizontal image visually cut the height, which is completely undesirable for a corridor.

In a dimly lit hall, volumetric panels with small details do not look favorable. This option strains a person's eyesight, affects his psyche not in the best way.

The image on the walls of a spacious corridor should be done in one storyline. Separate scenes will be out of place here. It is optimal to present a fragment of a street with houses and a public garden.

You can add volume to the space if you decorate the walls in cold colors. The use of warm colors, on the other hand, will visually reduce the corridor.

If you plan to pasting with canvases with abstraction, you should prefer light paints with clear lines and edging.

For high-tech style, minimalism, loft and a similar image should be appropriate: urban series, geometric patterns, chaotic brickwork, volumetric stair steps. In monochrome photos, bright inclusions-accents are allowed.

Ethnic styles imply a choice of themes: African animals, pharaohs, elements of Buddhism, deserts, murals, hieroglyphs, dragons and oriental vegetation.

The classic style that does not lose its relevance is successfully emphasized by vertical lines, photos of old streets with paving stones on the roads, cozy metropolitan landscapes and copies of famous paintings.

What to consider when choosing?

In order for 3D wallpapers to harmoniously resonate with the style of the interior as a whole, and not to make inappropriate accents, it is important to adhere to the recommendations regarding their color.

Regardless of what color of finishing is determined for your corridor, it is important to choose wallpaper with which it will be possible to visually expand the room, fill it with light, which is usually not enough in the corridors.

In a cramped corridor, where daylight does not penetrate, it is better to prefer canvases with a predominance of light colors.

If you plan to paste over with photo wallpaper only one of the walls, a small wall or some part of it, the use of bright shades is allowed. In this way, you can make a visual accent and "move" the room.

When pasting the entire wall with photocloths, it is advisable to select the color palette to match the color of the finishing of the remaining walls in the room.

Beautiful examples

Photos of narrow cozy streets directly opposite the entrance to the house.

Antique arches and flowerpots, elongated vertically.

Tall trees that make the hallway more spacious due to the vertical position of the image.

Scandinavian style as a companion to wallpaper with a "sea" pattern.

The Provence style is favorably emphasized by the wallpaper depicting birds among flowers.

An enchanting view from the open window of the lavender fields.

If the corridor is very narrow, on the wall opposite the entrance, you can glue wallpaper with a photo of a forest path winding into the forest, or another photo with a perspective effect.

The arched opening is effectively framed by images with a medium-sized, duplicated pattern. Wallpaper imitating bookshelves looks interesting.
