Balcony and loggia in Scandinavian style

Scandinavian style does not highlight the decor, but functionality and ergonomics. Traditionally, it is associated with white walls, for which people with conservative attitudes call it the style of sterile operating rooms. Scandinavians, indeed, can use dozens of shades of white in design, because it is the color of possibilities, comfort, a blank canvas on which it is pleasant to paint the beauty of your life, including on the balcony.

A Scandinavian-style balcony is most likely light walls, simple shapes, curtsey to the light (there should be a lot of it). And it may also be the rejection of curtains. The style is considered inexpensive, which is especially attractive, but it is not equal to buying the cheapest. Of course, luxury furniture and premium finishes, especially on the balcony, will be considered nonsense. But solid things are preferable.

Scandi balcony is:

• simple design without intricate designs;

• natural materials used in the interior;

• green plants and various floristic compositions as decor;

• practical and functional items in the setting;

• a lot of natural light;

• atmospheric, cozy artificial lighting.

It is more often restrained, with a dominance of light shades, white variations and the inclusion of cozy gray. The rest of the colors are used for the most part in the decor of a balcony or loggia, they can change depending on the season and the mood of the owners.

If a person is not sure that he knows the colors well and can create a color idyll on a small balcony footage, you need to look for simple solutions. For example, white walls, light wood floor, light ceiling, white furniture with gray and black patterns / prints, fragments. Natural greenery will favorably stand out from this strict color scheme - it is always in harmony with such a background.

However, bright colors can also be on the scandi balcony: yellow sofa cushions (if there is a place for a mini-sofa or bench in this interior), some appropriate souvenirs like red far-Karlian horses. Bright colors can be used in the decoration of frames on the wall with posters or photos.

Wood and wicker furniture solve the issue of organic design. Especially wicker items, which look lighter, will look good in a small space. Expensive furniture, and even on the balcony, is definitely not required. But folding chairs, small tables (can be transparent) will do. Wooden or wicker shelves, wall shelves will also be appropriate. And a hammock, which is also inexpensive, will also be successful on a scandi balcony.

You can use furniture made of pallets, make small sofas with your own hands, for which you can then sew or select soft covers. The pallets can be stained or painted the same white. Near the window part, you can build a small bar counter, next to which you can put 1-2 high chairs. There is no better place for your morning coffee or evening cocktail, especially if the view from the window is impressive.

A table lamp or floor lamp creates a cozy artificial light that will set the mood of the balcony in the evenings.You can make subdued ceiling lighting suitable for rest and relaxation. The balcony railing is decorated with a garland, without which the Scandi-style is also difficult to imagine, especially such small and cozy areas.

The lighting design is complemented by hanging lanterns and, of course, candles. They are especially important for Scandinavians. They are used not only in decor - they are really lit both a lot and often. The evening balcony will become even warmer and more comfortable if candles with some kind of relaxing aroma are lit in beautiful candlesticks.

Soft pillows, small blankets and capes - this is what will be the main decor in the scandi-interior of the balcony. They are functional, because they allow you to warm up and equip yourself with a cozy place for reading, for example, or relaxing after a working day. Small textile rugs will complement the space and add a sense of home peace.

If there are shelves on the walls, there can be books, vases, souvenirs - but in a metered amount. Scandi hates clutter. But the main decor will be plants, greenery in pots, which enlivens the space and, especially on a white background, looks picturesque, evoking pleasant associations.
