The townspeople do not always manage to get out into nature, fry meat and vegetables on an open fire. And this is sometimes lacking in the hustle and bustle of working days and short weekends. As a result, many people have a question: what if you light the brazier right on the balcony?

In principle, such a desire is not devoid of logic - air circulates freely in the open area. The smoke quickly dissipates, escaping into the street. Of course, residents of high-rise buildings have the opportunity to place a barbecue on the balcony, if you follow certain rules.

Advantages and disadvantages

The following points speak in favor of cooking an appetizing kebab on the balcony:

  • the ability to cook outdoors in a comfortable home environment;
  • cooking meat on fire in different weather conditions;
  • a delicious dinner with a smoke, without wasting time on a trip out of town;
  • a large selection of safe electric barbecue appliances.

But these nuances can spoil the appetite of those who like to fry meat on fire without leaving home:

  • the danger of fire during the operation of open barbecues;
  • the likelihood of being fined by police and fire inspectors;
  • there are complaints from neighbors;
  • the smell of smoke spreads into the apartment.

Legal regulations

Cooking kebabs on the balcony is not prohibited by the laws of the Russian Federation. In general, there is no specificity in legal documents on this topic.

At the same time, it is officially forbidden to make fires near residential buildings, and even more so indoors.

This is considered illegal and leads to unpleasant consequences:

  • the probability of receiving a fine in the range of 2000-400000 rubles. (the maximum amounts appear in the claims from the State Fire Inspection);
  • corrective labor in case of a fire that caused damage to neighboring property;
  • conviction for a term of up to 7 years in prison, if 2 or more people died in a fire, one dead person will have to answer according to the law, serving a 5-year term.

There is only one place in the apartment where it is allowed to cook food on the fire - the kitchen. And it should, of course, not be a grill, but a certified gas (electric) appliance.

With all of the above, it must be borne in mind that the current norms were enshrined at the level of legislation, even when our compatriots did not use compressed coal barbecues. Therefore, in the regulations and the code there is no unequivocal definition as to whether coal barbecues are classified as sources of open fire.

However, law enforcement officers and firefighters have all the powers to resist starting a fire on the loggia of an apartment building. In order to write out a fine, the culprit will have to be caught in an unlawful event. In other words, to catch the hand.

But if you still want to take a risk - and fry something on the grill, it is important to think over the event, ensuring it maximum safety.

According to the laws of nature, the warm air that appears during combustion rises. At the same time, particles of burning coals rise. If linen dries on the balconies of the floors above or in the neighborhood or there is debris, there is a great risk that a fire will occur.

For the same reason, it is impossible to make it possible to cook barbecue on the roof of a high-rise building. They are usually covered with bitumen and roofing felt, which are classified as combustible materials.

In addition, dry leaves always accumulate in such places. And they light up quickly and are rapidly carried by the wind.

Valid options

On the modern market, there are various modifications of grills operating from the mains or supplied gas.From the point of view of fire safety, both varieties are allowed for use in residential buildings. Cooking kebabs using gas devices will significantly reduce the cooking process. But electrical appliances are much more practical to use.

For a balcony barbecue, you should prefer tabletop models of an electric grill, which do not require a lot of space, but at the same time their working surface is enough to fry a large portion of meat products.

In addition, this type of grill is mobile and can be used both indoors and outdoors.

In addition to the grill, it is quite permissible to use a portable barbecue on the balcony. It is much lighter than its stone counterparts and does not threaten to overload the bearing plate. Ideally, the grill should be equipped with a smoke exhaust pipe.

For those who want to treat themselves to fried meat with smoke, without leaving the apartment, an airfryer is optimal. This is a kitchen unit in the form of a transparent container under a lid with many holes. It has a built-in heating element and a fan, which contributes to uniform roasting of food. Cooking is virtually smoke-free. The cover has a clear control panel. Through the transparent walls, you can watch the cooking of meat. And, if necessary, stop the operation of the device at a certain stage of readiness.

Gas

The gas appliance device consists of:

  • lattice work surface;
  • burners;
  • heating regulator and hoses.

All nodes are hidden in the case. The structure is equipped with a hinged lid to keep the heat inside the gas grill. Conducting a stationary gas pipe to the balcony is impractical. And there is no way to get a permit for this event. It remains to use a gas cylinder. It connects to regulators to supply gas through hoses.

It is required to equip an extractor hood. Otherwise, the smoke will inevitably seep into the living quarters, even with the door to the balcony closed.

In addition, the option with a balloon is unsafe in an open sunny space.

Electric

Electric barbecue appliances are horizontal (standard type of barbecue) and vertical designs. The last option is presented in the form of an elongated cylinder, in the upper part of which there is a chamber with a heating element for frying. In the lower part there is a drive that rotates the skewers.

In the horizontal type design, the lower location of the heating element, and the skewers with the products are rotated manually, which is very similar to the traditional option of barbecue cooking.

An electric brazier for a balcony is considered a safe solution. And since there is no specific prohibition on its operation in the premises, then claims, in fact, should not be presented. Models with a closing lid are good for balconies.

However, no matter what electric grill the choice falls on, the device can be effectively used even inside the living space. After all, this is not meant to kindle a fire.

By type, barbecues are stationary and mobile.

The stationary version is a massive structure with ventilation holes and a cover. Of the additions, we can note the presence of a dust collector and a grill grate. Such a stove looks impressive and prestigious. But the built-in barbecue located on the balcony takes up most of the free space. In addition, the balcony structure rests on just one supporting plate, and a massive brazier made of stone or cast iron exerts a great load on it.

The mobile version can look different and be made in a handicraft way. These are a kind of small metal boxes of collapsible design. Some models are equipped with hooks for hanging on the balcony parapet. The design features of mobile type braziers are such that they are easy to quickly disassemble and hide out of sight.But it is prohibited by law to use them on balconies. Even in the smallest box, a lit fire remains a fire, that is, a source of danger.

Security measures

In general, cooking food on fire in the area of ​​balconies and loggias is a very dubious undertaking that can lead to real problems. In any case, it is important to observe safety precautions:

  • it is worth frying kebabs only on open balconies or on spacious loggias with panoramic windows and swing doors;
  • use only paper and compressed coal;
  • refuse liquid for quick ignition;
  • it is better to use a minimum of paper, since ash is easily carried through the air by a wind stream;
  • for cooking on burning coals, you should use a mini-brazier made of sheet metal, closed with a lid, with support legs or brackets for hanging on a parapet;
  • prevent drafts on the balcony;
  • there should always be a container with water nearby, or even better - a small fire extinguisher.

The device of a brazier of any design in a designated place contradicts legalized fire safety standards. It is quite possible that after repeated complaints from neighbors, going to court and the arrival of inspection services, it will be necessary to remove him from the balcony completely.
