Advantages and disadvantages

A hammock on the balcony or loggia in the apartment brings a romantic touch. It is easy to enjoy the view from the windows or just relax. Some, lying in hammocks, read books and magazines. Sometimes it is mentioned that such an accessory is much more comfortable and useful than a bed. This is confirmed by both research and direct experience of a large number of people.

Undoubtedly, discomfort is possible at first - such a drastic restructuring of the sleep pattern takes several days. However, the adaptation takes place very quickly, and soon all negative manifestations cease. Sleeping in a hammock is also attractive because it reduces back pain. This is especially true if pain occurs due to constant sedentary work or other monotonous posture. The ease of installation and dismantling of the hammock allows you to quickly prepare a place for guests, and just as quickly remove it.

Such a sleeping place takes up much less space than ordinary beds, sofas and armchairs. Therefore, it can be organized even on the balcony where nothing else fits. And in any case, there will be free space on the floor. The purchase costs will be less than the cost of even the simplest bed.

No need for a lot of bedding; Sheets, duvets and feather pillows are a thing of the past; they are simply not needed.

It is also worth emphasizing the general light and romantic mood. Associations with travel and adventure are immediately created. But all this does not mean, of course, that hammocks have no weak points. They won't stand two people for any length of time. Getting in and out of there is also a non-trivial task.

Yes, over time it becomes a habitual activity, however, people with disabilities and the elderly may have difficulties. Lack of space can also create problems. It's not nearly as comfortable inside as on a regular bed. Some people like the movements of a hammock, but others do not - and nothing can be done about it. Finally, such a bed needs to be replaced more often than traditional furniture or mattresses.

Species overview

The classic type of hammock, familiar from cinema and literature, immediately appearing in the head - white or light gray, made of coarse threads. In terms of the brutality of knitting, such hanging sunbeds are comparable to fishing nets. Nevertheless, romantically minded children and adults will be delighted with such a piece of furniture. The use of different formats of the main stock and methods of fastening helps to diversify the appearance. They usually try to fix the bed on the ceiling hooks.

The wireframe type is significantly different. The main frame is not always prefabricated; in some cases, the fabric is pulled over a cast product. The peculiarity is that there are no questions with fastening.

In the interiors of recent times, hammock chairs are becoming more and more relevant. They fit in best with an eco-friendly and loft environment.

The material of the frame is important. It is better if it is stainless steel or anodized aluminum. Plain black metal can hardly be recommended. Wood and rattan are good alternatives. If you plan to often go out into nature with the same hammock, it is recommended to immediately choose lightweight hanging models.

On an open balcony in the summer and, in general, in the warm season, loungers with a mosquito net should be used. It is more practical and convenient to rest in them.

On the balcony, you can safely use hammock chairs. To diversify their appearance is obtained by adding all kinds of pillows. As you can see, the choice of specific types of suspended beds is practically unlimited.

How to hang?

The easiest way is to fix traditional hanging hammocks. They are equipped with wooden planks at the edges, due to which the canvas is stretched. However, models devoid of bars turn out to be cheaper and more compact. Fastening is always done in one of 3 ways:

  • on the walls;

  • to the ceiling;

  • on the balcony railings.

The choice of an option in a particular case is determined by its expediency and by what kind of load this or that product can transfer. In terms of reliability, there is no equal to fastening to main walls. Concrete is capable of withstanding any fastener. The brick will also withstand such an impact, the main thing is the introduction of anchors into the bricks themselves, and not the gaps.

For your information: you definitely should not hang a hammock on the walls from the gypsum board, because they are unnecessarily fragile and unreliable.

Instead of a wall mount, in this case, a lounger is attached to a rack fixed to the floor. Fixing a hammock to walls made of brick, concrete or natural stone requires preparing:

  • tape measure and stationery marker;

  • a 17 mm spanner and a few more keys just in case;

  • hammer;

  • pliers;

  • drill with a special drill;

  • a pair of anchor bolts equipped with a special hook.

Usually the hooks are driven in at a height of 150 cm - it is the most convenient. The exact placement of such elements is determined by the length of the hammock. It is useful to try it on with an assistant and see that the bed does not drop to more than 40 cm above the floor. The depth of the anchor holes is normally 80 mm.

Anchors with hooks must be driven in carefully. See if hanging the hammock will be reliable. When screwing in the nut until it stops, it is necessary to simultaneously hold the hooks with pliers so that they do not turn. The factory beds are then simply hung up. Homemade ones have to be equipped with ropes or other auxiliary materials.

A rope attachment, if done correctly and made of good rope, is quite reliable. However, steel chains are even more reliable and interesting. Fastening a hammock to the ceiling often occurs not on hooks, but on eyebolts.

In case of insufficient reliability of the walls and ceiling plate, only the railing remains to be used. The hammock can be fixed on them with a pair of M10 eye bolts.
