Choosing a hanging cabinet in the hallway

Outerwear and shoes are often left in the hallway, so special furniture is required so as not to clutter up the space there. For example, hanging cabinets are convenient not only for storing everyday shoes, but also for various small items such as keys, leather and suede care products, brushes and accessories.

In addition, it is more convenient to take folders, bags and other things that you want to keep close at hand from open shelves.

Hanging pedestals can also be classified according to the materials from which they are made.

• Wood - natural eco-friendly material that has a luxurious look and excellent performance properties. Wooden furniture can serve more than one generation in a family. Among the shortcomings, one can note the high cost and significant weight of the material.

• MDF - a cheaper analogue of wood, but no less environmentally friendly material. Durable, practical, the market offers a lot of decorative options.

• Chipboard - the most affordable material, and therefore popular. At the same time, it has low strength, and does not differ in durability.

• Plastic - the material is most resistant to moisture, not afraid of mold. At the same time, it is easily scratched, as a result of which it quickly loses its attractive appearance. With a strong impact, the material bursts or becomes covered with cracks, which also indicates a low service life.

Furniture finishes also vary and can influence the final selection. For example, paint and PVC film are popular. This coating allows you to give furniture any color and even apply a pattern. Varnishes perfectly level the structure of the material, look especially noble on wood. In this case, you can choose a suitable shade, make the color of the tree a few tones darker. Wooden veneer perfectly allows you to mimic any material under a tree of any species, making a piece of furniture more noble and visually expensive.

The choice of a hanging cabinet is influenced by the size of the hallway, its interior, the quality of the wall partitions, as well as what is planned to be stored in it. If the furniture turns out to be too massive, then it will clutter up the corridor. Too small may not be practical.

Therefore, when buying, you can focus on the following criteria:

• how roomy the cabinet is, whether the storage systems meet the needs;

• Does it fit into the dimensions of the hallway;

• whether it fits the style of the interior;

• what are the strength and quality of the structure.

If the edge starts to recede, then moisture and dirt will get under it, not to mention the deterioration of the aesthetic appearance. If the cabinet is made of chipboard, the edge protects the occupants from harmful glue vapors. Most often, the edge is made of PVC, but it can be melamine.

If the hallway is furnished from scratch, it makes sense to purchase a ready-made set of furniture right away. The advantage is that everything is designed in the same style, a functional design is assumed, it often comes out cheaper than buying separately. A hanger with a mirror or a wardrobe, hanging shelves, a shoe rack and a bench can be included with the cabinet.

A hanging cabinet can function as a table in the hallway. This is especially convenient when you need to tidy yourself up before going out, comb your hair. If the apartment is one-room and small-sized, this solution will be especially convenient. But it is important to have good lighting in the corridor.

The curbstone can be multifunctional, for example, the upper compartments for storing various things, and the lower ones have special shelves for shoes.
