If you plan to equip a dressing area in your home, then you should take care of the organization of ventilation in advance. Its design can be different. The ventilation system for such a room can be built independently. Today we will talk about what types it is, and how to make it yourself.

What is it for?

In the course of their life, people emit a large amount of heat and moisture, which, in the absence of ventilation, will begin to accumulate inside the room. As a result, conditions are created for the appearance of mold and mildew.

The presence of the fungus can negatively affect the state of health. This will especially apply to the elderly and young children. Those who suffer from reduced immunity may develop various diseases of the respiratory system.

Mold and mildew also affect furniture and wall coverings. Unpleasant odors will quickly spread throughout the house. Various woven products can absorb them for a long time.

In the dressing areas, the organization of the ventilation system should be given special attention, because many items of clothing require special storage conditions. Otherwise, they will not be able to serve for a long time. Excessive moisture will cause fabrics to wear out faster and begin to lose their freshness and original attractive appearance.

It is especially important to build ventilation in spaces without window openings. Indeed, in such rooms there is no natural circulation of air flows. In this case, the ventilation duct is connected from other zones where there are windows. At the same time, special exhaust shafts are also installed.

What happens?

Ventilation for the dressing room can be of various types. Let's consider some of them separately.

  • Forced ventilation. This option is used in cases where natural air circulation becomes insufficient. But arranging such a system is best done at the stage of designing a house. In this case, you will have to supply the exhaust duct from the general system. At the same time, a special fan with the required performance indicator is installed.
  • Ventilated doors. Such products are doors equipped with special ventilation grilles. They can be of various sizes. The grille itself can be installed from below and from above. These products allow you to control the level of moisture and temperature differences inside the room, provide good circulation of air flows, and also remove toxic components from the room. The vents themselves can be circular, oval or square. Decorative rings are usually additionally fixed on such structures. Doors often have not only aesthetic qualities, but also allow you to increase the level of noise insulation in the dressing room.
  • Supply system design. This option will be most suitable for dressing areas in which there are no window openings. In this case, several small even holes are formed at the border with the adjacent room, where the system has already been established.
  • Combined ventilation. This option is used if the dressing area is combined with the rest of the living space in the house. But in such rooms, the system must be powerful enough. Sometimes several strong fans are used at once, as well as a number of filtering devices. Sometimes special ventilation shafts are also used.

How to do it?

The ventilation system in the dressing room can be easily built independently. If you plan to do it in a room with windows, then you can install a window comb and keep the frame ajar.

It will also be possible to immediately install special windows with micro-ventilation mode. Sometimes a special valve is fixed on the openings, it will also allow you to keep the window a little open.

If you need to make ventilation in a dressing room without windows, then the best option would be to organize a common system with other rooms. In this case, you will have to drill a hole in the wall, a wall valve is inserted into it. This option is considered the simplest and cheapest.

It will also be possible to fix the supply unit instead of the valve. This unit will be more expensive compared to the previous version. But at the same time, it differs in maximum air supply performance.

Often, dressing rooms are equipped in small closets. In this case, you will have to form a small hole in the wall covering that borders the living room. It is covered with bars. Through this channel, air will flow inside. It is discharged through the gap under the doorway into the hallway, and then goes to the nearest hood.

If you are just equipping your house or apartment and are going to install stretch ceilings, then it is best to build a duct system. It will allow you to remove air masses from each room. At the same time, its own separate line is brought to the dressing area. Fresh air will flow through the gap under the doorway. In this case, the exhaust line can pass either to the nearest ventilation shaft, or through the wall to the street.

When using special fans in the wardrobe, there are some important features to keep in mind. So, when calculating the performance of this equipment, one should be guided by the fact that the air exchange in such a room should be at least one and a half times.

In order to make the calculation correctly, you will first need to calculate the volume of the room (length, width and height are multiplied among themselves), the resulting number is also multiplied by 1.5.
